VCE Vocational Major and Victorian Pathways Certificate presentation material, online briefings and consultation report
Principals/directors
The VCE Vocational Major and Victorian Pathways Certificate will replace VCAL in 2023.
We have prepared a set of presentation slides with speaking notes you can use when you are ready to talk to your leadership team and staff about these changes.
You are also invited to attend an online briefing on the new pathways and our plan for professional learning and resources to support schools and providers. If your school has not offered VCAL before, or you would like to hear a more in-depth explanation of the pathways, you may wish to attend the more detailed briefing.
The proposed curriculum for the VCE Vocational Major and Victorian Pathways certificate was developed after broad consultation across the sector and community last year.
Thank you for your participation in our consultation about the curriculum. Your contributions were used by the Panel to refine the curriculum documents. Our report on the changes we made in response to your feedback is now available.
The Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority is now considering our application to accredit the new curriculum. We will publish the accredited curriculum when that process is complete.

Principals, Assistant Principals and Directors can review the below resources and use them at a relevant time to communicate with staff. These resources are subject to change by the VRQA accreditation process. We will provide resources for communication with parents and students after accreditation is finalised.

We’re committed to supporting providers to implement the VCE Vocational Major and Victorian Pathways Certificate. This will include a schedule of online professional development sessions for careers practitioners and teachers. Details and dates for these events will be released in the coming weeks. This will include specific sessions for careers staff in schools.
We will also provide you with more communications material in the first half of this year to help inform students and families of their options.
