2023 Validation of student postal addresses
Principals/directors, VCE and Vocational Major (VM) coordinators and VASS administrators
From Monday 2 October, the VCAA will undertake validation of student addresses for the following students:
- students enrolled in one or more VCE or scored VCE VET Unit 3–4 sequence
- students enrolled in one or more VCE VM Unit 3-4 sequence
- students enrolled in Senior VCAL units
- students enrolled in International Baccalaureate, in their final year of studies.
This process aims to maximise the successful delivery of hard copy results to student postal addresses.
If student addresses do not conform to Australia Post standards, the VCAA will email schools and provide the reason why the address has not been validated. Schools are required to review invalid addresses and amend in VASS. Schools will not receive a notification if all addresses are valid, and no action is required.
It is important that correct student address details are entered in full on VASS, including identifying the apartment, flat, unit, house and property number where relevant.
When entering student addresses that are longer than the available character length on VASS, the address is to be abbreviated in the most meaningful way possible.
Before the validation process begins, principals should ensure student addresses are valid, current and correct.
Action
Principals/directors, please make sure that student postal addresses are confirmed and updated on VASS by Monday 2 October.
