VCE Agricultural and Horticultural Studies
Principals/directors, VCE Coordinators and VCE Agricultural and Horticultural Studies teachers
In Unit 4, Outcome 1 of the VCE Agricultural and Horticultural Studies Study Design, students are required to have knowledge of state and federal government regulations and policies affecting the sustainability of Australian agricultural and/or horticultural businesses.
One of these regulations and policies, the
Environmental Protection Authority Act 1970 has been repealed and replaced by the
Environment Protection Act 2017.

Environment Protection Act 2017 can be found on the Victorian Legislation website.
Action
Principals/directors should ensure VCE Agricultural and Horticultural teachers are aware that:
- for 2023, students undertaking VCE Agricultural and Horticultural Studies can study and be assessed against either the
Environmental Protection Authority Act 1970 or the
Environmental Protection Act 2017
- from 2024, students undertaking VCE Agricultural and Horticultural Studies will study and be assessed against the
Environmental Protection Act 2017.
