Transition Learning and Development Statement (TLDS)

Transition Learning and Development Statement

The Online TLDS is a user-friendly tool for creating and sharing Transition Learning and Development Statements (TLDS) through the Insight Assessment Platform. Designed for early childhood services, this tool simplifies the process of completing and distributing Transition Statements to schools.

Using the Insight Assessment Platform, schools can seamlessly link a Foundation child's TLDS to their individual student records and other online assessment data, such as the English Online Interview and the Mathematics Online Interview. However, for independent schools and Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) services that do not utilise the Insight Assessment Platform, TLDS will need to be shared manually. To facilitate this, the Online TLDS tool includes a printing function for easy distribution.

The Online TLDS will open on 15 July 2024 until 31 March 2025.

Upon the opening of the tool each year, Early Childhood services are emailed new login credentials via the email address registered in the National Quality Agenda IT System (NQAITS).

For more information, visit the Department's TLDS website.

Reading and Vocabulary assessment for English as an Additional Language students (RVEAL)

Tools for Enhancing Assessment Literacy for Teachers of English as an Additional Language

The online Reading and Vocabulary assessment for English as an Additional Language students (RVEAL) is a new assessment instrument for English as an Additional Language (EAL) students in Years 3 to 10. It provides teachers with diagnostic information about learners' reading and vocabulary skills, as well as an indicative placement of students against the EAL Developmental Continuum P – 10. RVEAL is one component of the Tools to Enhance Assessment Literacy for Teachers of EAL students (TEAL) toolkit.

TEAL provides teachers with resources to support EAL learners in Victorian schools, including those from a refugee background, students born in Australia and overseas and fee-paying international students.

Sessions:

  • RVEAL Primary 1 and RVEAL Secondary 1 are made available in Semester 1.
  • RVEAL Primary 2 and RVEAL Secondary 2 are made available in Semester 2.

All of the RVEAL assessment items are standardised. This means that a B1 student, for example, will receive the same result when completing RVEAL Primary 1 or RVEAL Primary 2.
