VCE VET Applied Fashion Design and technology

The VCE VET Apparel, Fashion and Textiles program is drawn from a national training package and offers portable qualifications which are recognised throughout Australia. These qualifications provide students with a broad range of skills and knowledge to pursue a career or further training in the fashion industry.

The VCE VET Apparel, Fashion and Textiles program does not offer scored assessment.

Qualifications

MST20616 Certificate II in Applied Fashion Design and Technology: provides an introductory overview of skills applied in the fashion industry. It includes skills used in the design and production of garments and millinery.

Credit in the VCE (including VCE VM and VPC): recognition of up to five VCE VET units at Units 1 and 2 level, and a VCE VET Unit 3–4 sequence.

MST20722 Certificate II in Apparel, Fashion and Textiles: provides an introductory overview of the entry-level workers in the textile, clothing and footwear industry who perform basic and defined work tasks involving known routines and procedures under supervision. This qualification is typically used to develop basic employment related skills and knowledge including preparatory access and participation skills and/or specific workplace skills that relate to an individual sector. Specialisations and/or elective selections allow for the tailoring of this qualification to achieve basic skill outcomes in different areas of apparel, fashion and textile work.

Credit in the VCE (including VCE VM and VPC): recognition of up to five VCE VET units at Units 1 and 2 level, and a VCE VET Unit 3–4 sequence.

Program material

The Apparel, Fashion and Textiles program booklet contains information relating to the qualifications approved by the VCAA for delivery to VCE (including VCE VM and VPC) students.

It includes advice on the units of competency making up the program and the credit available for students.

It also provides advice on Structured Workplace Learning, the ATAR contribution and pathways to further learning.

The program booklet should be read in conjunction with the MST Training Package.

ATAR contribution

Students who receive a VCE VET Unit 3–4 sequence for the VCE VET Apparel, Fashion and Textiles qualification will be eligible for an increment towards their ATAR (10% of the lowest study score of the primary four studies).

The increment is awarded by the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC). For more information, visit VTAC.

Structured workplace learning recognition

The VCAA provides recognition for Structured Workplace Learning for students undertaking a VCE VET program (VE1) or a school-based apprenticeship or traineeship (SBAT) (VE2).
