F–10 Curriculum
Getting ready for bushfire season
As anyone involved in disaster preparedness will tell you, the best time to get ready for a bushfire is long before one arrives.
With this in mind, we have sequenced lesson plans to help teachers prepare all young Australians for the challenges of living in a country that regularly experiences bushfires. The plans are arranged in four different themes: learning about bushfires, preparing for bushfires, responding to bushfires and recovering from bushfires. You can find them on our
Bushfire education page.
You are also invited to attend a joint presentation with Fire Rescue Victoria and the Country Fire Association on Tuesday 6 September at 4pm. The webinar will introduce teachers to bushfire resources, including where to find them and how they can be used in the Victorian Curriculum F–10. Register through
Webex Events.

F–10 Assessment
National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy
2023 NAPLAN test timetable
In 2023 NAPLAN will be held during Term 1 from Wednesday 15 March to Monday 27 March.
Conducting the assessment earlier in the year will give teachers and parents information about student literacy and numeracy skills and capabilities, which they can use to inform targeted support throughout the year.
Please plan to make sure that the NAPLAN tests can be successfully conducted between the new specified times in 2023. This includes purchasing the
required devices before the end of the 2022 school year and planning school resources to accommodate the revised test dates.
2022 results release
NAPLAN 2022 results will be released to schools and parents on Monday 29 August.
In the interim, principals can access preliminary NAPLAN 2022 data from the Student and School Summary Report (SSSR) via the
Online National Assessment Platform.
From Monday 29 August, schools will be able to access the NAPLAN 2022 results from the secure web-based
VCAA Data Service, which has replaced the NAPLAN Data Service. The VCAA Data Service contains all reports dating back to 2008 and five new reports tailored to the online tests. Schools will also be able to download the SSSR at this time and will receive a reporting package containing an Individual Student Report (ISR) for each student who participated in NAPLAN.
The VCAA Data Service will be unavailable just before results release, while data is being uploaded. Schools will receive further communication regarding outage dates.
The password to access the VCAA Data Service will not be changed this year. Please use the same password used to access the NAPLAN Test Administration website. In case of misplaced User ID or password, email the NAPLAN Helpdesk at
vcaa.naplan.help@education.vic.gov.au or call 1800 648 637.
In Term 4 we will offer professional development webinars and workshops to support educators and NAPLAN coordinators to interpret this year’s data. Details of these sessions will be communicated when dates, times and venues have been finalised.
