Hosted annually, the 2024 VCE Transnational Conference was attended by the VCAA and 3 Victorian schools; Firbank Grammar, Thomas Carr College and Caroline Chisholm Catholic College. Also in attendance were 20 VIP guests from the Chinese and Australian governments, as well as representatives from Australian universities. A professional learning opportunity for VCE offshore teachers, this year, 13 offshore schools (12 Chinese and one Singaporean) participated, with 200 teachers, mentors and school leaders from Victoria, China and Singapore. This year’s conference theme was: ‘New Features, New Paradigms, New Paths’ and featured keynote speakers on topics such as curriculum reform in China, digital transformation and the impact of technology on the global workforce.
In addition, panel discussions highlighted Australia as a study destination and the value of Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) in the words of former students. VCAA Curriculum Executive Director, Jason Smallwood presented on the VCE and explained global pathways for students through the VCE curriculum. This is a great example of the work we do to elevate the profile of education in Victoria and showcase the VCAA as a global leader in education.
The VCAA attended the conference to support licensees and offshore schools in delivering the VCE, connect with stakeholders, we contributed workshops on writing assessments for the new Science Study Design and how to analyse VCE data to build teacher professional judgment. The VCAA attended the conference to support licensees and offshore schools in delivering the VCE, connect with stakeholders, and promote the VCE to external stakeholders in China while deepening our knowledge and skills, including learning about education systems all of which supports the VCAA’s vision of being a global education leader.The VCAA licenses Victorian schools to deliver the VCE in partnership with schools offshore and the VCE is delivered across 22 schools in China. This contributes to the work and vision of the VCAA in being a global leader in education.
