MY VET
SUCCESS STORY

Bachelor of Biomedicine Student
Why I chose VET
VET proved to be a great way to change up my learning. VET gave me the opportunity to develop skills that I could utilise in industry and professional environments. These skills ranged from communicating with diverse people to helping vulnerable people within the community.
What I got out of VET
Apart from a qualification that looks great on a resume, VET gave me the opportunity to follow my passions. The best part of VET was Structured Workplace Learning. I was fortunate to be placed at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre where I observed researchers and doctors doing incredible work.
My VET success story
By seeing the industry I wish to be a part of in the future through my VET Community Services placement, I knew where I wanted to go with my career. VET Community Services and VET Hospitality both taught me various techniques that are transferable to the health industry. The qualifications also helped me to get a job so I was able to work and get some extra pocket money which proved to be incredibly useful in VCE.
My advice
Take advantage of Structured Workplace Learning! It's an incredible opportunity to learn about a career and decide if it's for you or not – all without committing years of your life!
