2026 VCE and VPC Subject Audit

From 2026, the VCAA is implementing a streamlined two-part audit program for all VCE and VPC providers.

For the new Subject Audit, providers will be required to submit documentation they have already prepared during the academic year. Lengthy questionnaires have been replaced with a simple document upload, and there will be a single submission period in Term 4 for all VCE, scored VCE VET and VPC subjects. Subjects will be selected for audit using a random sampling approach.

In 2026, the Subject Audit will be auditing whether the:

• information provided to students aligns with the relevant study design / curriculum design / VET scored program
• assessment task(s) for the selected outcome / module / scored assessment program align with a task type specified in the study design / curriculum design / VCE VET scored assessment guide
• content of the assessment task and assessment tool used to assess the task aligns with the selected outcome / learning outcome / unit of competency.

The VCE Administrative Handbook outlines the information that schools must provide students in writing at the beginning of each VCE (including scored VCE VET) unit (page 29).

The VPC Administrative Handbook outlines that for units in the VPC, schools must specify the learning program that a student must complete to achieve an S for a module and the conditions under which the work is to be done (Page 32).

Critical dates

2026:

• Tuesday 6 October: Providers notified of subjects selected for audit
• Monday 2 November: Subject Audit submission period commences
• Friday 13 November: Subject Audit submission period closes

2027:

• Week commencing Monday 18 January: Subject Audit outcomes delivered
