Flood-affected schools and impact on VCE examinations
Principals/directors, VCE coordinators and Examination Centre coordinators
The VCAA is currently contacting schools and providers impacted by floods across Victoria, working directly with them to understand the impact on the delivery of VCE examinations and to provide tailored advice and support to ensure student results are not adversely impacted.
A dedicated hotline is now active for weather-related issues impacting VCE examinations:
Contact the hotline:
- for advice on individual circumstances impacting your school
- to inform the VCAA of weather-related issues impacting your school and the delivery of VCE examinations
- for advice if your school is not directly impacted but individual students, teachers or examination supervisors are.
Existing VCAA processes, including the use of Derived Examination Scores (DES), will be applied to students identified by schools who are significantly impacted by the floods, without the requirement for individual applications.
Special Examination Arrangements and DES applications continue to be available, where required, for students impacted by unforeseen circumstances, as per VCAA’s usual processes in any given year. Contact Special Provision on 1800 205 455 or
vcaa.special.provision@education.vic.gov.au.
Schools and non-school senior secondary providers can also apply for VET unspecified credit for VCE and VCAL students unable to complete units of competency due to the floods. Contact the VET Unit on (03) 9059 5195 or vet.vcaa@education.vic.gov.au.
We will continue to communicate with you regularly as the impact on schools and VCE examinations evolves.
