Victorian Curriculum F–10 Version 2.0 now available

Principals/Directors and F-10 teachers

The VCAA has released the Victorian Curriculum F–10 Version 2.0 to enable schools and teachers to become familiar with the revised curriculum over 2024 and 2025 before implementation in 2026.

Version 2.0 can be found on the new Victorian Curriculum F–10 website.

This release of the Victorian Curriculum F–10 Version 2.0 includes:

  • 6 learning areas
    • The Arts (Dance, Drama, Media Arts, Music, Visual Arts, Visual Communication Design)
    • Technologies (Digital Technologies, Design and Technology)
    • Humanities (Civics and Citizenship, Economics and Business, Geography, History)
    • Health and Physical Education
    • Languages (Chinese, French, Italian and Japanese)
    • Science
  • 4 capabilities
    • Ethical
    • Critical and Creative Thinking
    • Intercultural
    • Personal and Social
  • 3 cross-curriculum priorities
    • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures
    • Asia and Australia’s Engagement with Asia
    • Sustainability
  • 3 foundational skills
    • Digital Literacy
    • Literacy
    • Numeracy.

Mathematics Version 2.0 and English Version 2.0 were released for familiarisation in July 2023 and December 2023 respectively.

In Version 2.0, students will experience improved learning transitions from early years to primary school, gain the necessary knowledge and skills to follow their chosen senior secondary pathway, and experience a streamline curriculum with high-quality teaching and learning provisions.

Version 2.0 provides a high-quality curriculum that teachers can implement with confidence, including revisions that better meet the needs of Victorian students. It is a more manageable and accessible curriculum, including refined content descriptions, clear achievement standards to assess student learning more easily, and additional curriculum resources on our dedicated curriculum website.

Action

Principals/Directors, please encourage teachers and leaders to visit the Victorian Curriculum F–10 Version 2.0 website, view the introductory videos, and register for upcoming webinars in Semester 2.
