Equivalent VCE studies from 2024
VCE Politics (Units 1 and 2: 2024–2028 and Units 3 and 4: 2025–2028) will replace the previous study of VCE Australian and Global Politics. The following units have been deemed as equivalent studies:
- Units 1 and/or 2 of Australian and Global Politics prior to 2024 and Units 1 and/or 2 of Politics (2024–2028)
- Units 3 and 4 of Australian Politics prior to 2025 and Units 3 and 4 Politics (2025–2028)
- Units 3 and 4 of Global Politics prior to 2025 and Units 3 and 4 Politics (2025–2028)
For units that are deemed to be equivalent, there are restrictions on credit that may be gained towards satisfactory completion of the VCE. If a student undertakes an equivalent study of a unit they have already satisfactorily completed, only one of these units can be included towards satisfactory completion of the VCE.

Updated study designs are published online during Term 1 in the year before implementation on the relevant VCE study page. This is to assist teachers to prepare for the implementation of the reaccredited studies from 2024 and must not be used for the 2023 academic year. Any updates and amendments to study designs will be announced in the Bulletin and published on the study page.
Additional resources will be added progressively for the implementation of these VCE studies as they become available.
A reminder that the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA) has approved the extension of the current accredited VCE Australian and Global Politics study design until 31 December 2024 for Units 3 and 4 only to accommodate the staged implementation of the revised study design from 2024. Schools must use the current 2018–2023 (now 2018–2024) VCE Australian and Global Politics study design study design for Units 3 and 4 in 2024. In 2024, for Units 1 and 2 you will be using the revised VCE Politics study design.
