Eligibility reports for VET students

It is important for schools to run VCE, VCE VM and VCAL eligibility reports following the completion of their VET enrolments. Students at risk of not meeting the requirements of the VCE, VCE VM or VCAL should be identified early while there is still the opportunity to plan for additional VET to be undertaken over the remainder of the year. While it is important that schools run eligibility reports, please note that the VET eligibility report may be misleading. Schools should use the Student Full Details Report from VASS to identify the amount of credit students may receive from their VET enrolment.

Infection prevention and control units of competency

Schools and training providers are advised that, in accordance with the Australian Industry and Skills Committee direction, the new infection prevention and control units should replace the superseded units in all current CHC and HLT qualifications. No transition period is available. All new units must be delivered from 1 March 2023. This does not apply to schools still completing superseded qualifications.

VCE VET Building and Construction update

The current VCE VET Building and Construction program is comprised of two Certificate II qualifications. The larger and most popular of these is the Victorian accredited course, 22338VIC Certificate II in Building and Construction Pre-apprenticeship. 22338VIC is set to expire on 30 June 2023. The replacement qualification 22614VIC Certificate II in Building and Construction Pre-apprenticeship is available on the Department accredited VET courses | Victorian Government website.

The revised VCE VET program will be available to schools from 2024.

Assessing Groups for VET

Please ensure that the Assessing Group (delivery location) is identified on VASS when setting up VET classes.

For VCE VET Scored programs the moderation group is based on the assessing group.

The assessing group may be the RTO, the home school or another educational provider in the case of a school cluster group.

Home School: Where the VET curriculum and scored assessment is delivered at the school.

Another school/cluster Group: Where students attend another school/educational provider such as a school cluster group.

RTO: Where Students attend a TAFE / RTO for delivery of VET curriculum and scored assessment.

Please note where schools have fewer than 5 enrolments an agreement is formed to join another group for assessment.
