Why I chose VET
Growing up in an immigrant family and a culturally and linguistically diverse community; I have always had an interest in working with people. VET Community Services was an opportunity for me to study my personal passion at school and receive a recognised qualification!
What I got out of VET
VET provided a practical learning experience where I was given the opportunity to apply my new skills in the workplace. I developed knowledge on social issues experienced by marginalised groups and learnt how to be more culturally aware. I developed skills in leadership, Auslan and first aid, all making me more employable.
My VET success story
VET Community Services fostered the skills and confidence I needed to be an active member of the community. It motivated me to be more involved with my community by volunteering and participating in various organisations with shared visions in this sector. Receiving a Premier's VCE Award for VET Community Services enhanced my thoughts on personal development and education, teaching me that to succeed and feel a sense of accomplishment I must do what I enjoy.
My advice
I would definitely recommend VET to every student! Be open-minded to a more stimulating and practical way of learning.
