Levels A to D (Towards Foundation) updated timeline

The VCAA released the Victorian Curriculum F–10 Version 2.0 on 21 June 2024.
A critical part of the work of the VCAA will now focus on the review of Levels A to D (Towards Foundation) which involves creating a developmental sequence towards Foundation Level and ensuring this demonstrates an understanding of how students with an intellectual disability can be best supported to progress their learning.
In addition, the VCAA has been working with key stakeholders to understand their experiences and the considerable change in inclusive education since the initial Levels A to D (Towards Foundation) curriculum was developed and implemented in 2011.
Following extensive consultation with specialist school leaders and teachers from across all sectors and with key stakeholders, the VCAA has adjusted the timeline for releasing the Levels A to D (Towards Foundation) curriculum to allow for a comprehensive review period. This will ensure the curriculum and its supporting resources reflect contemporary research and meets the needs of students and teachers now and in the future.
The revised curriculum for Levels A to D (Towards Foundation) will be released over 2025-2026.
The VCAA’s review of the Levels A to D (Towards Foundation) curriculum will engage with key stakeholders and will offer ample opportunities for feedback.
The review will consider:
- advice from key stakeholders, including sector governing bodies, the Curriculum Area Reference Panel and Expert Advisory Group
- the knowledge and experiences of specialist school leaders and teachers conducted via the independent monitoring of the Victorian Curriculum F–10
- feedback from focus groups for curriculum areas, including disability advocates
- critical advice sought from subject matter experts in addition to the VCAA’s curriculum managers.
