VCE VET Agriculture, Horticulture, Conservation and Ecosystem Management

Three core units of competency from AHC21216 Certificate II in Rural Operations will be included within the VCE VET Agriculture, Horticulture, Conservation and Ecosystem Management program from 2024.

VCE VET Applied Fashion Design and Technology

From 2024, the VCE VET Applied Fashion Design and Technology program will be renamed the VCE VET Apparel, Fashion and Textiles program. The program will include both MST20616 Certificate II in Applied Fashion Design and Technology (extended transition approved by ASQA) and MST20722 Certificate II in Apparel, Fashion and Textiles.

VCE VET Health

From 2024, the two certificates HLT33021 Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance and HLT33115 Certificate III in Health Services Assistance will be separate VASS enrolments.

VCE VET Sport and Recreation

The reference group for the VCE VET Sport and Recreation program review consisted of teachers, trainers, industry representatives and representatives from the VCAA. The reference group deemed fitness qualifications to be inappropriate to be included within the VCE VET Sport and Recreation.

Schools and RTOs are advised that employers in the fitness industry expect their employees to be at least 18 years old and hold a position that assumes duty of care for participants. These qualifications are deemed as not suitable for VET DSS programs.

Further information can be found in the Sport, Fitness and Recreation (SIS) Companion Volumes.

The VCE Season of Excellence provides a great opportunity for students to have their talent and outstanding work recognised in a significant public setting.

Top Designs, part of the VCE Season of Excellence, presents works from VCE VET programs in:

  • Furnishing
  • Engineering Studies
  • Integrated Technologies
  • Music (Sound Production)
  • Creative and Digital Media.

Applications from students enrolled in the above VCE VET programs are welcome.

Scored VCE VET program coursework audits

Coursework audits will commence for Unit 3–4 sequences from scored VCE VET programs in October. Please make sure the correct Assessing Group is selected in VASS as this group will be responsible for providing the audit material.

Principals will be notified if their school or registered training organisation has been selected for audit. Schools will be required to submit a copy of the required assessment plan and three coursework tasks.

VET statewide webinar

In November the VCAA will host a professional learning webinar to support schools and providers deliver VET. The workshops will also provide essential 2024 information updates, including:

  • program updates, enrolments and trends
  • School-Based Apprenticeships or Traineeships (SBAT) and SWL recognition
  • Get VET resources
  • VET recognition in the VCE, VCE VM or VPC.

Registrations will open later this month on the VET professional learning page.

Permission to Teach (Vocational Education and Training)

Permission To Teach (PTT) (VET) enables individuals with vocational skills and relevant training and assessment qualifications to teach VET subjects in schools without a teaching qualification.

The Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) has published new resources explaining PTT requirements for VET for schools, PTT (VET) applicants, TAFEs and Registered Training Organisations. VIT is also hosting free webinars on PTT requirements, focussing on VET.

For more information about the webinars, including dates and times, refer to the VIT website.
