2023 enrolments for VCE Units 3 and 4 English as an Additional Language (EAL), Second Languages and Chinese Language, Culture and Society
Principals/directors, VASS administrators, and VCE and VCAL coordinators
2023 enrolment applications are now available on VASS and the study design pages for these VCE Unit 3 and 4 studies:
A student’s home school is responsible for managing the application process within the set timeframe.
English as an Additional Language (EAL)
Schools determine eligibility to enrol in English as an Additional Language (EAL). You do not need to apply to the VCAA if eligibility requirements are clearly met.
If schools are unable to make a decision on eligibility or if the application is for a student whose country of origin is Singapore or India, the application must be forwarded with the required supporting documentation by Friday 14 October.
VCE Second Languages
From October 2022, after the VCAA has assessed a VCE Second Language application, you can view a student’s eligibility on VASS (set year to 2023).
Go to ‘Student Program > VCE Reports > Second Language Applications’. Select ‘Run Second Language Application Report’. If the application has not been approved, an ‘N’ will appear under the ‘Eligible’ column.
VCE coordinators and/or VASS administrators will be notified via email of the outcome of an application. Please advise students of the outcome immediately, so they are aware of their eligibility status for 2023.
Where required, schools can email applications to Student Records and Results at student.records@education.vic.gov.au. Schools should also contact Student Records and Results if they are having trouble meeting a deadline.
Action required
Principals/directors, please share this information with the relevant staff and make sure all applications are submitted by the due date.
