2022 School-based Assessment Audit

Principals/directors, VASS administrators, and VCE coordinators and teachers

To continue to support teachers and school leaders to focus on core teaching and learning activities in Term 1, the commencement date of the 2022 Unit 3 School-based Assessment Audit has changed.

The audit, originally due to commence on 22 February, will now commence on Tuesday 26 April.

The date of release for the Unit 3 audit reports and outcomes and the commencement of the Unit 4 audit remains Tuesday 19 July.

Schools will be notified of their requirements for audit through VASS on Tuesday 26 April. The key dates on VASS will be updated to reflect this change. The School-based Assessment Audit page will be updated shortly with more detailed information.

Critical dates

• Tuesday 26 April – notification of Unit 3 School-based Assessment Audit requirements
• Friday 13 May – responses to Unit 3 audit questionnaire due
• Tuesday 19 July – notification of Unit 3 audit outcomes and commencement of Unit 4 audit

Additional information

The purpose of the School-based Assessment Audit is to help protect the integrity of the VCE and its results. The audit checks that the standards and requirements set out in study designs are being followed and that assessment is being carried out in line with the VCE assessment principles.

All schools are audited annually for at least one VCE study. The audit consists of a study-specific audit questionnaire that is completed by teachers on behalf of the school. The responses to the audit questionnaire enable the VCAA to determine if school-based assessment is being delivered in line with the specifications and requirements set out in the accredited VCE study design and the VCE assessment principles.
