Notice to Schools 91/2022 – 17 June 2022
VCE Economics Unit 4, Area of Study 1 external examination
Principals/directors, VCE coordinators and VCE Economics teachers
VCE Economics students may choose to write about any budget initiative from the past two years in the end-of-year examination, as outlined in the VCE Economics Study Design (2017–2022), Unit 4, Area of Study 1, Key knowledge points:
- The stance of budgetary policy: expansionary or contractionary
- The effect of budget initiatives from the past two years on the Australian Government’s macroeconomic goals of strong and sustainable growth, full employment and low inflation
The Australian Government has indicated the intention to deliver a federal budget in October 2022.
Not all students will have had adequate time to analyse the October 2022 Budget in preparation for the end-of-year examination. Examination responses that do not refer to the October 2022 Budget initiatives but do refer to other Australian Government initiatives from the past two years can still potentially receive full marks.
VCE Economics teachers should ensure their Unit 4 delivery program consists of the budget initiatives and the stance of budgetary policy from the past two years.
