Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) recognition enrolments open

VCE, VCE VM, VPC, VCAL and VET coordinators, VASS administrators

Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) recognition has been approved for students enrolled in VCE, VCE VM, VPC, and VCAL Intermediate programs, as part of the suite of changes in 2023 supporting the implementation of senior secondary certificate reforms.

VASS is now open for the entry of SWL enrolment data and results. Schools are asked to enrol students in their 2023 SWL program as a matter of urgency so students are not disadvantaged.

Schools can enter the student results at the same time or the VCAA can populate all 2023 SWL recognition results to assist schools.

The following applies to SWL recognition arrangements for 2023.

SWL recognition is available for students who undertake:

SWL in an industry aligned to the VCE VET program (VE1)
a school-based apprenticeship or traineeship (SBAT) (VE2)
SWL general, including SWL in any other VET certificate (VE3), SWL in any industry not aligned to their VET certificate, or SWL and are NOT enrolled in VET.

Students are eligible for up to four units of credit for SWL recognition at the VCE Units 1 and 2 level, including one general unit.

A maximum of one unit per year per VCE VET program is available, and up to two units per year for an SBAT.
