VCE Politics professional learning workshops registrations

Principals/Directors, VCE Politics teachers

In collaboration with Social Education Victoria, the VCAA will be delivering professional learning workshops designed to support teachers in their implementation of the reaccredited VCE Politics study design 2024-2028, across both Units 1 and 2 (from this year) and Units 3 and 4 (from January 2025).

Registrations are open for 2 equivalent sessions of 2 hours each, scheduled for May 2024 – one taking place in Geelong, and the other in Melbourne CBD. These in-person sessions are offered free of charge and light refreshments will be provided for all attendees.

VCAA Curriculum Manager Adam Brodie-McKenzie will be co-presenting each session alongside one other teacher with extensive knowledge of the study. There will be a shared focus on:

  • the implications of the changes and additional features of the reaccredited study design
  • suggestions for effective strategies in implementation
  • providing general guidance to those teaching this subject for the first time
  • answering questions and providing feedback.

We strongly encourage teachers to seek school approval now to attend the most convenient session for them. To avoid disappointment, please ensure registrations are submitted no later than 3 business days prior to each workshop. These sessions will not be recorded.

To get the most out of the event, registrants should ensure they have watched all the Implementation on-demand videos produced by the VCAA, which cover many of the essential considerations and characteristics of the study – the content of these videos will be considered ‘assumed knowledge’ for all workshop attendees.

Participants will also be invited to submit questions for presenters in advance, as part of their registration.

Principals/Directors should ensure VCE Politics teachers are aware of these professional learning opportunities.
