Supporting English as an Additional Language (EAL) at transition to school - Assessment for Learning - Introduction

Assessment focuses on what children can do rather than what they are unable to do and recognises the range of learning experiences, skills, knowledge and understanding in the home language that learners bring to the early childhood setting.

Authentic assessments engage children in tasks that are personally meaningful, take place in real-life contexts and are grounded in naturally occurring learning activities.
