Teaching of civics and citizenship
Education Services Australia (ESA) has been tasked by the Department of Education and Training to undertake a stocktake of free online resources to support civics and citizenship education. ESA intends to review a range of existing, free, online resources for teachers and learners in schools. The scope extends beyond the Australian Curriculum: Civics and Citizenship to encompass the history of Australian democracy and values education (as it relates to civics and citizenship education).
The results of this project may inform the development of a national digital hub that will provide a central point for schools to locate quality curriculum-aligned civics and citizenship education resources.
ESA seeks feedback and input from humanities and social science teachers on how civics and citizenship is currently being taught in schools, and the challenges they face, via an online survey.
