VASS availability for VET enrolments

VET certificate enrolments on VASS will be available for schools in March. It is critical that VET coordinators check details of the certificate and units of competency provided by the training provider against the VASS certificate structures before completing the student enrolment. It is also important to confirm the expected credit into the VCE or VCAL.

For access to apprenticeships and traineeships on VASS (VE2-SBAT), please email a copy of the signed training plan to the VET Unit.

New VCE VET program – VCE VET Visual Arts

The new VCE VET Visual Arts program will offer the opportunity for students to complete the Certificate II in Visual Arts and the Certificate III in Visual Arts. Both qualifications provide students with occupational outcomes and pathway opportunities.

Before 2022, Certificate II and III in Visual Arts were recognised by VCAA certificate type VE3. From 2022, Certificate II and III in Visual Arts will be recognised by VCAA certificate type VE1.

Download ‘2022 VCE VET program structures’ via the VCE VET programs page for full program structure details and transition advice for continuing students.

Students undertaking CUA20720 Certificate II in Visual Arts are eligible for up to four VCE VET units on their VCE or VCAL statement of results, at Units 1 and 2 level.

Students undertaking CUA31120 Certificate III in Visual Arts are eligible for up to six VCE VET units on their VCE or VCAL statement of results, up to two VCE VET Units at Units 1 and 2 level and up to two non-scored Units 3–4 sequences.

VCE VET Visual Arts is complementary to existing VCE Arts Studies, as well as a practical option for students seeking an alternative to VCE Arts Studies.

If a student wishes to undertake VCE VET Visual Arts in addition to either of the VCE Visual Arts studies, care should be taken in selecting electives that do not duplicate artistic disciplines.

Coursework Audits for 2021

Results and feedback from 2021 VCE VET Coursework Audits will be sent to principals and managers of the Assessing Group of the VCE VET program and RTO partners in February. Teachers of VCE VET programs in schools/assessing groups that were audited should make sure they receive the outcome of their audit from their principal or manager. If audit results indicate that improvement in task design is required, teachers should attend the relevant VCE VET Scored Assessment webinar to be held in March 2022.
