Victorian Curriculum F–10 English Version 2.0
The Victorian Curriculum F–10 English Version 2.0 is now available.
English Version 2.0 is more flexible and invites skills to be transferred across language modes and contexts. It provides a clear continuum of learning through content descriptions and skills and provides capacity to vertically map content descriptions into achievement standards.
The revisions are based on feedback from Victorian educators, including through the VCAA’s formal monitoring over the past 5 years, the significant consultation conducted by ACARA in reviewing the Australian Curriculum Foundation to Year 10, and advice provided by Curriculum Area Reference Panels, made up of Victorian teachers from across school sectors.
‘English is central to the lives and development of all people living, learning and working in Victoria,’ says Acting CEO Kylie White.
‘Through the study of the subject of English, Victorian students extend their engagement with the English language and learn to understand, empathise, communicate and build relationships with others and the world around them. ’
‘This curriculum helps create confident communicators, imaginative and critical thinkers, and informed citizens,’ says Kylie.
The VCAA is committed to supporting all Victorian teachers as they begin to familiarise themselves with English Version 2.0 throughout 2024 and implement in 2025.
You will find downloadable resources for English literacy leaders and teachers at curriculum area resources, with more to follow in Term 1 2024. For an overview of the main changes to the revised curriculum, you can also watch our introductory videos. Principals and teachers will be invited to additional live webinars in the New Year.
