F–10 Curriculum
Online access to Language Assessments
To support teachers with implementing the Victorian Curriculum F–10 Languages curriculum, the VCAA is offering access to a suite of short online Languages Assessments.
Developed with and hosted by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER), the VCAA Languages Assessments consist of a series of multiple-choice listening and reading tests in Chinese, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Modern Greek and Spanish.
The tests provide a snapshot of each student's receptive reading and listening skills, which can be used to better target the student's learning needs.
One of the key features of the assessments enables teachers to see which questions students answered correctly, which were incorrect, and which questions were not attempted.
VCAA Languages Assessments are available ‘on demand’ for teachers to use at any time – giving teachers the flexibility to decide which test they wish to use to assess their students' listening and/or reading skills.
How can teachers access the VCAA Languages Assessments?
ACER has dedicated support resources, including helpdesk support, to support teachers to register and use the Languages Assessments. To access the Languages Assessments, go to the
ACER website and complete the online registration form.
Professional learning support
The VCAA and ACER provide online professional learning sessions to support teachers with using the new Languages Assessments.
Register for access to the sessions.
