Trade and Tech Fit Career Expo

The VET Unit are proud to be exhibiting at the Trade and Tech Fit Career Expo 8 May and 9 May 2024.

Staff will provide career pathways advice to support students to pursue exciting career opportunities.

It’s the biggest hands-on expo in Victoria, demonstrating trade and tech industries to young women and gender diverse people.

Aimed at years 7 to 12 female and gender diverse students from all Victorian secondary schools, it will introduce career pathways in a range of traditionally male dominated industries.

The expo is being held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) over 2 days.

VET Unit staff will be at stand 120.

VCE VET State Reviewer vacancies for 2024

Applications are invited for the vacant VCE VET State Reviewer position for 2024 in the following VCE VET programs:

  • Engineering
  • Furnishing
  • Laboratory Skills

State Reviewers can be teachers of the program at Units 3 and 4 level. The VCE VET State Reviewer is a paid position and those appointed are required to undertake a range of activities including participating in VCAA professional development, providing feedback and advice to schools and RTOs, assisting in the preparation of published advice regarding scored assessment, conducting coursework audits and preparing feedback on the coursework audits.

Applications to deliver high-level VET qualifications are now due

Any qualification at Certificate IV or Diploma level is considered a ‘high-level qualification’ for senior secondary purposes. Schools or providers planning to deliver high-level VET qualifications in 2024 are reminded that an application must be submitted and approved prior to commencement of any training. The latest application form for high-level VET qualifications and instructions on how to apply are available on the block credit recognition webpage.

Access to school-based apprenticeships and traineeships (SBATs) on VASS

For access to SBATs on VASS, please send a signed and completed copy of the training plan provided by the RTO to the VET Unit via email (vet.vcaa@education.vic.gov.au). The training plan must include contact details for the student, school, employer and RTO, and must be signed by all four parties.
