Notice to Schools 124 –
10 October 2024

October and November 2024 examination centre messages

Principals/Directors, and VCE coordinators and teachers

The VCAA will send an examination centre message after the commencement of each written examination. These messages should be given to the chief supervisor.

Usually the message will be ‘Proceed normally’. If an error or other problem has been identified, instructions will be provided for supervisors, which may include an announcement for students. In these circumstances, the subject of the message will be ‘Special message RE ...’.

We will forward examination centre messages via email to the school’s official mailbox, by SMS and through VASS.

Schools that have registered for the SMS trial will receive either of these messages:

  • Proceed normally
  • Refer to the Special Examination Message email

Schools should make sure that an appropriate person is available to log in and collect email messages and that the mailbox is not full. Login should occur at the times listed in Examination centre messages delivery times.

If these delivery methods fail, call (03) 7022 5550 to confirm the examination centre message.

Note: No messages will be sent for Classical Greek and Classical Hebrew.

Action

Principals/Directors, please ensure that:

  • an appropriate person is available to collect the message by email, SMS or via VASS
  • the examination centre message is delivered promptly to the chief supervisor.

Critical dates

Monday 14 October – test message sent by email, SMS and via VASS at 12pm (no follow-up action required)
