L-R: Miranda Plowman, Mercedes Robertson, Minh Dang
Top Designs exhibitor Mercedes Robertson impressed the Board with her VCE VET Creative and Digital Media animation Memories and the creative process she undertook to realise her vision.
Top Arts exhibitor Minh Dang was recognised for Sorrow, a stunning and sensitive portrait of a close friend that captured their internal struggle with the fear and sadness of not being able to express their sexuality and true identity.
Miranda Plowman’s work Language is here, a 3D representation of language, was also displayed as part of Top Arts 2023. Board members were impressed by the huge amount of research Miranda undertook, the originality of the idea and the imaginative approach in its creation.
VCAA Chair Chris Wardlaw said 2023 was another phenomenal VCE Season of Excellence. Board members described the works as “impressive and compelling”. Mr Wardlaw commended Mercedes, Minh and Miranda for their outstanding works and their commitment to their VCE and the arts.

The Board Appreciation Award was established in 2015 to acknowledge and celebrate the talent, hard work and dedication of VCE students whose work has been included in exhibitions during the VCE Season of Excellence. All winners receive a certificate and funding to put towards their continued education and exploration of their chosen fields.
