First look at VCAA’s new Student Achievement Profile

The new Student Achievement Profile will present a more holistic summary of a student’s achievements.

Senior students across Victoria will be able to celebrate all their achievements over their senior secondary schooling – not just their academic results or completed qualifications – with the introduction of the new Student Achievement Profile.

A Student Achievement Profile summary will be issued in 2023 for senior secondary students leaving school without a qualification in 2023 and 2024. It will present a holistic summary of a student’s achievements captured during their senior secondary education and complement the existing Statement of Results.

VCAA Senior Secondary Certificate Reform Executive Director Sue Bell said VCAA was very excited about the initiative, introduced as part of VCAA’s ongoing senior secondary reform work.

‘The Review into vocational and applied learning pathways in senior secondary schooling (the Firth Review) found that the existing certificate and accompanying Statement of Results does not fully capture a student’s strengths, capabilities and achievements,’ Sue explained.

‘Parents and carers consulted for the Firth Review valued the idea that it would be beneficial for every student to have a full spectrum of their learning and skills represented.’

‘The Student Achievement Profile will broaden the definition of success to celebrate what has been achieved. This reflects national and global trends towards reforming the way education recognises and communicates student achievements and results.’

Schools will be able to request a Student Achievement Profile summary for exiting eligible students later in 2023 via VASS. More information will be sent out via the VCAA’s Notice to Schools.
