VCE study designs for implementation in 2023

Principals/directors and VCE coordinators and teachers

The study designs for the following VCE studies for implementation from 2023 are available on the relevant VCE study pages:

• Aboriginal Languages of Victoria (currently known as Indigenous Languages of Victoria: Revival and Reclamation)
• Algorithmics (HESS)
• Art Creative Practice (currently known as Art)
• Art Making and Exhibiting (currently known as Studio Arts)
• Business Management
• Chemistry (Units 1 and 2) – staged implementation*
• Chinese Language, Culture and Society
• Economics
• English and English as an Additional Language (Units 1 and 2) – staged implementation*
• Food Studies
• Literature
• Mathematics
• Music
• Physics (Units 1 and 2) – staged implementation*
• Psychology
• Religion and Society
• Texts and Traditions

*The Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA) has approved extending the current accredited study design until 31 December 2023 for Units 3 and 4 (only).

These study designs have been published in the year before implementation to assist teachers to prepare for the new studies from 2023. They must not be used for the 2022 academic year.

As in previous years, additional resources (including on-demand videos and support materials) are being added progressively to the relevant study pages and will continue to be published across Terms 2 and 3. Any updates and amendments to study designs will be announced in the VCAA Bulletin and published on the relevant study pages.

Implementation webinars currently open for registration can be found on the VCE Professional Learning page. Additional webinars will be added for Semester 2 – please look for updates and further details in the VCAA Bulletin and Notices to Schools. All implementation webinars will be recorded and published on the relevant study pages.
