Assessment Platform - Terms and Conditions

The assessments are being delivered via the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority’s (VCAA) Digital Assessment Library (DAL) online platform.

In order to access the assessments, the School Principal must agree to adhere to the following terms and conditions of use for the DAL. These terms set out expectations regarding data collection, privacy and use of the platform, assessments and reports it contains. You can indicate your acceptance at the bottom of the page.

Terms and Conditions of Use

Communication

1. You must ensure all school staff (including teachers and administrative staff) in your school who You allow to utilise the DAL (School Staff) read, understand and comply with these terms and conditions of use.

2. You must ensure that School Staff make parents/carers aware of:

a. how your school will be using the DAL

b. which students/classes will complete assessments on the DAL

c. how results will be used and conveyed (if appropriate)

3. You must inform parents/carers and students about how student personal information will be collected and handled in the DAL and You shall do so by providing a copy of the VCAA’s DAL Collection Notice.

4. You must ensure that the VCAA is notified if there are any issues or faults experienced with the DAL, including the assessments and platform functionality.

Administration

5. To ensure effective use of the DAL, You must ensure that School Staff adhere to the instructions and supporting materials provided by the VCAA. If unsure of any aspects of these documents, clarification should be sought from the VCAA.

6. You are responsible for identifying suitable School Staff to be assigned the platform role of ‘DAL administrator’. These School Staff will be responsible for granting access to classes of students to sit assessments. If such a person is not available, You may carry out this function.

7. You carry the responsibility of assigning and, where appropriate, reassigning the DAL administrator role (or roles, if you assign the role of DAL administrator to more than one of the School Staff).

8. You must ensure that School Staff review the assessments available within the DAL to determine whether they are appropriate for specific students/classes. None of the assessments within the DAL are compulsory.

9. You will ensure that School Staff administrate assessments.

10. You will ensure that School Staff mark any assessments which are not marked automatically by the DAL platform.

Data Collection and Storage

11. You acknowledge that the DAL collects and stores staff and student personal information required for administrating assessments and You will ensure that School Staff have read the VCAA’s DAL Collection Notice.

12. You will also ensure that the collection and storage of all personal information collected for and stored in the DAL is collected and stored in a way that complies with your own school privacy policies or any privacy requirements imposed by legislation which are applicable to your school.

13. You will ensure that your school maintains accurate records of students and School Staff in order for assessments to be administered correctly within the DAL.

14. You will ensure that School Staff do not facilitate access to the DAL to anyone other than School Staff or students at your school.

Reporting

15. You will ensure that School Staff responsible for the provision of any results do not provide results that identify an individual student unless they are for:

a. the student who undertook the test,

b. the parent/carer of the student, or

c. School Staff.
